Meet the person teaching you to win on Upwork
David Iya is a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and Y Combinator alumnus who went from $0 to $50K in 50 days on Upwork and has helped freelancers earn six figures on the platform. He built Upwork Income Club to give freelancers the practical systems - profiles, proposals, closing scripts, retainers - that he wished existed when he was building from zero.
Watch your Upwork income climb.
Every stage stacks - a ranked profile, replies that convert, retainers that repeat. The system turns first jobs into a curve that keeps rising.
Questions, answered
Everything you need to know before joining Upwork Income Club.
How long until I land my first client?+
The honest answer: it depends on your niche, your proposal quality, and your volume - but you should expect to send 30 to 100 well-targeted proposals over several weeks before landing your first client. That is not a failure; that is the reality of a competitive platform with a limited pool of active clients. What the curriculum does is improve every variable in that equation so the number trends down: better proposals, better profile, better triage of which jobs to apply to. Most members start seeing replies within the first two to four weeks if they follow the system consistently.
I have no Upwork reviews yet - can I still use this?+
Yes - the club is built specifically for this situation. Stage 3 of the curriculum is entirely dedicated to building credibility from zero before your first review exists. The approaches include portfolio work, external proof, the right proposal framing, and profile positioning that makes the lack of Upwork-specific reviews less of a barrier. Getting your first few reviews is the most important milestone on the platform and the curriculum is sequenced to get you there as fast as honestly possible.
I have tried Upwork before and got nowhere - how is this different?+
The most common failure modes on Upwork are a profile that does not rank or convert, proposals that do not get read, and spending Connects on jobs with no real chance of a reply. The curriculum addresses all three systematically. If you tried Upwork and got nowhere, this is almost certainly a fixable profile and proposal problem - not a signal that the platform does not work for you.
Is Upwork still worth it in 2025 and 2026?+
Upwork has approximately 18 million registered freelancers and around 785 thousand active clients (FY25). The buyer side is the real constraint - the platform's value is in reaching clients who are actively spending, not in the total user count. The freelancers who win consistently on Upwork are the ones with better positioning and proposals, not the ones who arrived first. The platform is competitive but it is real - and the system we teach is specifically designed for the competitive reality, not a fantasy version of the platform.
What if I get stuck?+
Post in the community. The culture is direct and practical - you will get a real answer from people who have been through the same situation on Upwork specifically, not generic freelance advice. Getting stuck is a normal part of building on any platform, and the most valuable thing the club provides is cutting the time you spend stuck on problems others have already solved.
Why only $9 a month?+
The decision to join should never be about the price. At $9 a month the question is always 'is this useful?' not 'can I afford to stay?' The price is intentionally low because the club should be the first place anyone goes when they decide to build a real income on Upwork. Lock in $9 now - the price you join at is the price you keep, and it will go up for new members as the community grows. There is also a $39/month premium tier that unlocks the daily-use tools and The Upwork Engine, and a $499 lifetime option if you want to join once and stay forever.
Lock in $9/month for life.
The #1 community for building income on Upwork. Founding member pricing - once it closes, price goes to $59/month.
